The North Shore of Oahu consists of Haleiwa, Sunset, Pupukea, Waialua, Laie, Malaikahana, Mokuleia, and Waimea. This infamous area is known for its big waves and country living. This is why locals call this area “country,” as opposed to Town. The 7 miles of world class waves stretching between Haleiwa and Sunset is known to surfers as the “seven-mile miracle.” This area can resemble the other islands in its laid back feel and two-lane roads.

Living here makes it difficult to commute to Town, since the drive can be long and filled with traffic, depending on the time of day. There isn’t any malls in this area, and most of the small shops are geared towards tourists. There are two grocery stores, a hospital, and one high school in Waialua. For those who live here, the drive to Costco in Waipio is standard procedure, which can be a half-hour commute.
